Expressive Art – Definition
“Expressive art is a creative, mindful, healing art practice where the focus is on the process and not the product. A regular expressive art practice can help relieve stress and to improve self-awareness. It can also help to understand the artist’s emotions. You do not have to have painting/drawing skills in order to paint in an expressive manner.”
IMPORTANT: You do not have to have prior art training to create your expressive painting. Basia and Julia will guide you through painting techniques, collage applications and embellishment techniques as you develop the layers of your painting. We will support you throughout your creative journey.

A little bit about Art Box Workshops
Our Vision for Art Box Workshops has always been to be inclusive of children and adults.
There’s a powerful awakening when you (re)discover your creativity you simply need to take the first step to take the journey with us and let us “Inspire” you as we lead you through a series intuitive, “expressive art” workshops. and a series of “skill-based” workshops. A different workshop will take place every month on a Friday evening, starting at 7.00 pm and will last approximately 3 hours. They will be based on a combination of skills and intuitive responses to a meditation. We will be using some art skills and utilize Basia’s experience as an art therapist, to access our inner landscape and to tap into our own personal imagery and these workshops will be led by Basia with Julia assisting.
In the “Skill Based” workshops you will learn how to start a creative journal, how to draw, to understand colour and to create artworks within that context. We will have workshops in Drawing and Painting, flowers, animals, landscape and Portraiture and these workshops will be led by Julia with Basia assisting.
A little bit about us
Julia Sawicki studied at both The National Art School, Darlinghurst and Sydney College of the Arts, she completed an honours degree in object art and design and has also been an exhibiting artist in both group and solo shows in Australia, England and New Zealand. Since having her child, her artistic focus has been on Art Box Workshops. Julia is really excited about hosting “Inspire” Workshops, as she knows too well how important it is to allow for some creative “Me Time” to heighten our vibration and recharge our spirits.
Basia Zielinska is a qualified teacher and has been teaching art e-courses through an online community and is also a Transpersonal Art Therapist, Basia has maintained her Art Therapy practice whilst being part of the Art Box Workshops team. Basia is delighted to be working with larger groups, utilizing both her art teacher and art therapist skills.
We have had many enquiries about adult classes and we have decided to start off with an art experience that combines all our skills, practical art skills together with an intuitive meditative experience.
Please fill out the form below if you would like to be notified immediately of our up and coming “Inspire” workshops events, or if you have any questions, we will respond within 24 hrs.
