    Calling all cat lovers! Young artists will learn to draw their favourite feline before designing colourful, patterned backgrounds to complement their portrait. This layered mixed-media workshop introduces drawing, composition, and creative design techniques. Each artwork will be professionally framed before heading home.     This unique lino printmaking workshop takes inspiration from the Powerful Owl, one of Sydney’s fascinating nocturnal residents and Australia’s largest owl. Powerful Owls depend on old tree hollows to raise their young, and once a breeding pair establishes a suitable nesting site, they often return to the same location for many years. As Sydney’s landscape has changed, these remarkable birds have adapted to urban life, hunting silently through bushland corridors and the night skies in search of possums and other prey. Students will create a striking illustrated owl design inspired by the Powerful Owl’s character and movement, adding bold, funky patterns and creative details to make their artwork unique. Julia will guide students through the exciting process of lino printmaking, from developing a design concept through to carving an A5 lino block. Students will print a series of cards to take home. Children will learn: How to design a funky owl with patterns Lino printmaking techniques. Create a series of hand-printed cards to give as gifts This workshop encourages patience, technical skill and thoughtful composition while producing a series of prints that can be gifted as cards. Perfect for upper primary students who enjoy detail, design and developing new artistic techniques. Medium: Lino prints on paper.     Introduce your young artist to the exciting world of monotype printmaking. Students will create an underwater fish tank scene using paint-on-glass printing techniques. They’ll design backgrounds and layered fish imagery, creating four unique prints that will be made into a handmade book. Students will: Learn to draw a design Explore printmaking techniques that are friendly for young children Learn book-binding techniques. Children will leave with: A handbound book of their collection of prints.
