Art Box Workshops at North Sydney Streets: Crows Nest
Families Explore Natural Watercolour Painting & Threatened Species Art
Art Box Workshops had a wonderful day at North Sydney Open Streets in Crows Nest, connecting with local families through creativity, sustainability, and hands-on art making.
Our stall was buzzing with children and parents throughout the day, all eager to try our studio-made, non-toxic watercolour paints, handcrafted from natural earth mineral pigments.
Painting Threatened Species with Handmade Watercolours
Children were invited to paint on beautifully designed cards featuring block prints of threatened species, created by our students during our Term 2 printmaking classes.
It was incredibly special to see young artists engaging with wildlife conservation through art — painting endangered animals while learning about colour mixing and natural pigments.
At Art Box Workshops, we believe art education can nurture both creative confidence and environmental awareness. Using handmade, earth-derived paints deepens children’s connection to materials, process, and planet.
Why Natural Watercolour Paints Matter
Our professional-quality watercolours are:
- Non-toxic and child-safe
- Made from natural mineral pigments
- Archival quality
- Designed to teach children the history and science of colour
Many families were fascinated to learn how pigments are sourced and how colours are mixed from a limited palette — a core skill in traditional art training.
