Adult Art Classes

Basia Zielinska, Dip. Ed., Dip. Art Therapy invites you to join her Expressive Abstract Art Class in her Neutral Bay Studio.
This weekly Tuesday class is for a thriving group of enthusiastic artists who are interested in creating abstract art and sharing their unique responses to ideas and materials. The artists rely on experimentation and the discovery of individual, unique artist “handwriting” as they learn to express themselves using a variety of materials. Participants will learn to express themselves intuitively, often in response to memories of real or imagined landscapes, feelings or situations.
The classes cover a curriculum designed by Basia and include opportunities to experiment with charcoal, inks, pencils and paints and collage so that participants can identify materials which they really enjoy working with and they will work in journals, on paper and canvas.
Participants are guided through design principles and will learn how to work effectively with colour, including working with a limited colour palette.
Participants will be encouraged to observe and record a very broad variety of shapes in the environment, which can be incorporated in innovative ways into their abstract artworks.
All levels of experience are welcome. In a small painting group, we not only learn from the instructor, but also from each other.
Beginners and more advanced artists are all very welcome.

On day one of your starting term, you will be provided with your own A3 journal on that first lesson you will be provided with all materials required that day. Whilst basic materials like student quality paints are provided, you will be encouraged to invest in your own artist quality paints – just a limited palette – and quality paper and canvases as and when you need them.

Take yourself on this journey of creative discovery.
