Dolphin Sculpture Workshop | Ages 9–12

Date: Thursday 8 October 2026
Time: 9 am-3 pm

Bring the energy of the ocean to life in our Dolphin Clay Sculpture Workshop.

Students aged 9–12 will learn how to design and construct a three-dimensional dolphin surfing through a wave. With expert guidance, young artists will explore sculptural form, proportion, balance, texture and the techniques required to join and shape air-drying clay.

Students will then use acrylic paints to add ocean-inspired colour and detail to their sculptures. Each completed dolphin will have its own movement and personality, creating a unique artwork to enjoy for years to come.

Students will:

  • Draw and design a Dolphin riding a wave.
  • Learn construction techniques.
  • Learn surface finishes and water textures using clay tools.
  • Learn painting techniques for sculpture

Each dolphin will be painted and ready to take home at the end of the workshop. They will be sculpting in  air-drying clay that takes five to 6 days to dry once taken home

Teacher: Julia Sawicki
Age group: 9–12 years
Materials: Air-drying clay and acrylic paint
Approximate sculpture size: 18 cm; finished dimensions will vary
Location: Art Box Workshops, Neutral Bay, Sydney

Active and Creative Kids vouchers are accepted.
