Celebrate the colour and joy of spring in our Naïve Spring Birds Mixed-Media Workshop.
Inspired by naïve painting and decorative folk art, children will create a charming scene filled with whimsical birds, playful patterns and cheerful spring colours. Students will explore drawing, painting, texture and composition while learning how artists use simplified shapes and imaginative details to tell a visual story.
Each child will be encouraged to make creative choices and develop a unique interpretation of the theme. Their completed artwork will be beautifully framed and ready to brighten their home.
Students will:
- Build a layered background
- Develop drawing skills of birds
- Create uniquie patterns for each of their birds
- Explore collage and painting techniques
- Learn proportion and placement

Designed for children aged 6–8, this hands-on workshop introduces young artists to the foundations of three-dimensional design. Students will learn how to shape, join and texture air-drying clay as they construct a charming kookaburra inspired by one of Australia’s best-loved native birds. Once the sculpture is formed, students will use acrylic paints to add feathers, markings and individual character. Every child will take home a unique, hand-painted kookaburra sculpture. Students will: Draw and design their Kookaburra.
