Pre-Christmas workshops Monday 17th – Wednesday 19th December
We will be painting the Christmas tree on a timber panel. The children will design some decorations and will have scope to make their trees unique. They will also paint gifts underneath the tree. A very festive workshop in time for Christmas.

A gorgeous workshop with the angel to be painted on a wooden panel. The students will have a choice of colour for the background and the angel’s gown and will learn how to paint a simple face, hair and wings.

Christmas tree baubles which are painted on shatterproof, clear tree balls. Julia will firstly teach some Christmas designs and then the children will choose which ones they would like to paint onto their tree baubles. Air drying clay workshop, of a super cute penguin wearing a Christmas hat (the hat is optional)This was a very popular workshop when we first taught it with the children creating very cute penguins. We offer this workshop again for those that missed out the last Christmas.

January School holiday workshops, 14th – 25th January 2019

We start off the summer holiday workshops with one of our most popular workshops. Wax resist and watercolour painting on paper, framed. Our students will learn how to draw then paint their favourite cat or dog. Our younger group love the change of pace that mixed media offers.

We cannot have summer paintings without an underwater landscape which includes corals on the seabed. Our older children have plenty of scope to use their imagination in creating unique paintings on canvas.

With summer illuminating our Sydney Harbour’s activities, a scene of yachts and the harbour bridge will be created using mixed media. There are several changes of pace in this workshop to which our younger children respond well. The works are on paper and framed to take home.

Shimmering Sea Horses are almost magical creatures. The older children will be able to achieve great artworks, not only learning to draw the seahorses but will also learn how to paint air bubbles and light shafts breaking through the water. These will be painted on paper and framed to take home. There will be scope for individual designs, especially with the underwater landscape.

When we offered this mixed media on paper, workshop 3 years ago, it was a huge success. Children will learn to draw a personalised swimming child, as well as learning how to paint water using the alchemy of the wax resist method. These artworks will be taken home framed.

Australia’s beautiful Red Centre with a night sky! A wonderful landscape for our younger children using mixed media on paper. We always focus on several steps for our younger children ensuring they are engaged with the process of creating their work. These will be on paper, framed.

We love to challenge older children. This is an outstanding workshop, painting on canvas, and using complex glazing techniques to achieve glowing effects. The older children will have a design and draw lesson before creating their paintings.

This is a terrific workshop for our youngest children. We will be creating special papers to cut some of the circles from, considering design, and using some simple printing techniques. These will be on paper, framed. We are always amazed at how beautiful the unique works are.

And so we settle into two days of sculpture, using air drying clay, a great favourite of our students, for our last two workshops. Our older children will be challenged creating the fabulous Major Mitchell parrot, and they learn a whole process of building the structure, before using the clay. These can also be painted.

This is a great workshop for the youngest children. Julia will teach them how to work the air drying clay to create a slab, as well as the clay decorations which will decorate the pot. Clay sculpture has several steps and the children learn the complexity of achieving their works through those steps.
