Thank you to all the children that joined our spring school holidays workshops, my mum and I had so much fun teaching from our open garden studio during some beautiful sunny warm days. Our students had the opportunity to experience an array of different mediums, including watercolour painting, acrylic painting collage and sculpture.

Our youngest students, who are six to eight years old, had fun experiencing at our Art Box studio some of the workshops I had facilitated as online art class during the Easter school holiday lockdown this year. They learned how to draw and paint “Native Australian Pygmy Possums” with Alpine flowers and also the “Glossy Black Cockatoos” feeding in Casuarina. The older students watercolour paintings of the “Orange Bellied Parrots”, was also a great workshop that I taught both at our studio and online. Each of these animals is a threatened species of Australia, and the final artworks are eligible to enter into the threatened species children’s competition next year.

We also included a fun “Hot Air Balloon”, and landscape painting workshop four our youngest students and my mum Basia Zielinska lead abstract painting and lovely papermaking and collage of spring flowers workshop.

Our older students love learning how to develop an acrylic painting. Drawing a composition, understanding brush techniques and colour mixing, they created beautiful artworks on canvasses of the “Bird of Paradise”. flower and also had a tremendous creative experience learning how to use glazing mediums and textural paints to paint planet “Earth”.

We finished off our two weeks of spring school holiday workshops with sculpture in air drying clay. Our younger students created lamb sculptures and had so much fun painting each one a different colour and with its uniquie personality. The “Hermit Crab” sculptures by our older students had many various shells to choose from to house their hermit crabs in, from drawing a design to building an armature and sculpting from their creations our students love the process with fantastic results.

Creatively yours
