Hello, Im excited to present our Easter school holiday workshops for 2023.

This year we have a fun series of Easter workshops for your children to enjoy, these particular workshops we last taught three years ago, and new students that had attended our younger workshops three years ago can now try the older student’s workshops. Each workshop is from 9.00 am – 3.00 pm and is held in our stunning studio, which overlooks a beautiful garden where the children enjoy their breaks throughout the day.

Week 1: Tuesday the 11th of April – Friday the 14th of April, 2023.

landscape painting by Art Box WorkshopsFlowers and Bugs,  acrylic painting, framed. Our students imagine lying on the grass and noticing what they see, including bugs, butterflies and flowers they will learn how to draw and paint before collaging onto a lovely landscape painting with fun painting techniques suitable for the younger students, each painting will be framed before they are taken home at the end of the day.
For children 6 – 8 years old.

king parrot painting at Art Box WorkshopsKing Parrot, acrylic painting on canvas. Our Older students love to paint Australian native birds. The beautiful King Parrots will be the subject of an acrylic painting on canvas this Easter. This particular species of bird is frequently spotted nesting at Cremorne point. Our older students will learn to develop each layer from sketching to background and tone variations for finer details, such as the bird’s feathers and textures. The results are very satisfying. For children 9 – 12 years old.

painting of birds at Art Box WorkshopsGang Gang cockatoo, painting on paper framed. Specially designed by Julia for our younger students from 7 years old. This workshop involves mixed media and collage techniques to develop a stunning portrait of the Native Australian Gang Gang Cockatoo. We will start with a rich background, and the children will paint two Gang cockatoos.
For children 7 – 10 years old.

fish painting at Art Box WorkshopsKoi fish, painting on Canvas. The gorgeous Koi fish painting is influenced by Japanese cultural traditions and represents strength and success. This workshop includes acrylic painting techniques, such as painting lily pads and a lotus, and how to use glazing mediums for the water’s transparent effects and the fish’s design. The results are fabulous and will be painted on canvas for each student to take home at the end of the day.

Week 2: Monday the 17th of April – Friday the 21st of April, 2023

abstract painting at Art Box WorkshopsColour, patterns and paint, on canvas. Kandinski inspires this workshop, and it is a beautiful introduction to colour theory for our youngest students. Each student will paint a colour wheel and apply the colour mixes onto their canvas. The canvases will be prepared for painting by the students who will learn to draw out the shapes as a template. A beautiful abstract coloured painting on canvas and a hand-painted colour wheel will be taken home. Summer 2021

drawing of birds Art Box WorkshopsRainbow Lorikeets, mixed media on paper framed. An excellent, multi-layered workshop where our older students focus on improving their drawing skills. Students will incorporate watercolour painting, inks and oil pastels to create an image of one of Australia’s favourite native birds that frequently are seen in our neighbourhood. The artwork will be framed before being taken home.
For children 9 – 12 years old.

uluru painting at Art Box WorkshopsUluru, painting on canvas. The Australian landscape is rich in images, and Uluru is a beautiful introduction to painting an iconic Australian landscape for our youngest students. New skills are introduced, such as painting a starry night with the Milky Way and mixing various red desert tones for the earth and texture for the native grasses and trees. The results will be fabulous and a lovely painting created by your child to have at home. For children 6 – 8 years old. Dimensions of artwork: 40x x 50, canvas.

lion sculpture at Art Box WorkshopsKing of the Jungle, in clay. Older students will learn how to sculpt the head of a lion. This workshop was very popular when we last facilitated it three years ago. Students will learn how to draw a design to scale and then construct an armature before applying the air-drying clay to the head of the lion. Julia will demonstrate the various methods of developing the facial features and texture for the lion’s main. This will be a challenging workshop but very rewarding.

easter slab pot at Art Box WorkshopsEaster fairground, on a slab clay pot. The Royal Easter Show is the inspiration for the clay slab pot decoration. Our younger students will have fun learning how to draw their designs before sculpting and decorating them onto their slab pots. This is a fun, relaxing workshop to finish the Easter Holiday workshops. The slab pot will be painted before being taken home.
