Our winter school holiday workshops are now open for bookings.
We will host various full-day workshops for primary school children at our garden art studio.
Painting, printmaking, mixed media and sculpture.
Each workshop is from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.
Limited place, small class sizes. Book soon so as not to be disappointed.

Monday 3rd July, “Gouldian Finch.”
We start our July winter workshops with a gorgeous watercolour of a Native Australian Bird.
Our students will improve their drawing and composition skills and the use of watercolour paints.
Students will frame their artwork before taking them home.
For children 6 – 8 years old.

Tuesday 4th July, “Orange.”
Our “Off the edge” workshops are immensely popular.
The older students will learn how to create a unique painting of a beautiful bright Orange by using cropping to help find an interesting close-up perspective. This workshop is a fascinating creative exploration with stunning results.

Wednesday 5th July,”Abstract microorganism.” 
Inspired by microorganisms, this lovely workshop will use various painting techniques such as sponging, blending, glazing and stencilling; children will also observe the contrasting effects of using warm and cool colours, with beautiful results.

Thursday, 6th July. “Freda Kahlo inspired self-portrait.”
The students will love painting their portraits, inspired by Freda Khalo. She always used flowers, shells, and animals in her portraits. I will provide reference photos of Australian native flora and fauna that our older students can choose to add to their portraits.

Friday 7th July. “Pygmy Possum Hibernating.” 
To celebrate winter, a stunning Mixed media artwork of the native Mountain Pygmy possum hibernating during winter in Australia’s alpine region and using several application methods from drawing Wax crayon, watercolour and collage.
This multimedia workshop is so much fun for young children to explore different ways of developing artwork. Alpine flowers and berries will decorate the outside edge of the design.
Students will frame their artwork before taking them home.

Monday 10th July, “Indigenous inspired dot painting of hands” on canvas.
We have an excellent cultural resource of unique Aboriginal art in Australia, and we love to inspire children with this resource. The children will have some choice about placing their hands and creating beautiful, unique artwork on canvas.

Tuesday 11th July, “Winter scene.”  on canvas.
Our Naïve landscapes are multilayered, and they will challenge our older students with various brush techniques but always produce outstanding artwork. The winter scene is a lovely seasonal design painted on canvas.

Wednesday 12th July, “monoprint Orange-bellied parrot.” 
There is something immeasurably satisfying in the creation of monotypes. Our student’s term time students love printmaking, which will be a new experience for our school holiday students. The native Orange Bellied parrot will be the subject, and monotypes allow for enhancing monoprints. Each student can expect to create three bird prints with two printed backgrounds, taking all the prints home with a favourite one framed.

Thursday 13th July, “Powerful Owl.”
The Powerful Owl is a Sydney local. This a great subject to sculpt by our older students, who will learn step by step how to create a detailed sculpture of this bird using air-drying clay. They will then learn techniques for painting their Powerful owl sculpture using layers of colours to enhance the details they have applied to the sculpture.

Friday 14th July, “Space slab pot.” 
Julia can’t wait to teach this gorgeous new workshop. Many technical skills are involved, and the students will learn all about the planets in our solar system that will be the design outside the slab pot. Our youngest students will have fun painting the planets and a spaceship on the outside of the slab pot. The inside of the slab pot will have a painting of the sun. Book early. This will be a popular workshop; our students love modelling with clay.
